Trips >> Algonquin Park Barron Canyon - July 16/06

The Baron Canyon trail is possibly the most amazing trail in the park offering spectacular views over a massive gorge 100 meters deep. The canyon was cut into the earth by glacier waters and forms a unique environment for creatures that live within the canyon walls. The trail is 1.5km in length and follows the edge of the canyon with interpretive stopping points along the way. If you're in the area this trail is an absolute must see, take some extra time to sit back and enjoy the view.

Overview

For the full Baron Canyon experience you have to also paddle the canyon! You can access the river via the Brigham parking lot and follow the gravel path down to the water. We paddled as far as the first campsite after the canyon, had lunch, and turned around to paddle out again. I thought I'd include a few pictures of the experience, sadly there's only a few due to low batteries.
